“The finest workers in stone are not copper or steel tools, but the gentle touches of air and water working at their leisure with a liberal allowance of time.” - Henry David Thoreau

Free Tip Sheet: 6 Ways to Guarantee Commercial Flooring Project Success

Weathered by wind and rain, bleached by the sun; years of exposure to natural elements transform material structures. Inspired by nature’s intriguing effects on building materials, Eero from Milliken’s new Freelay luxury vinyl tile (LVT) collection was awarded best of show for resilient flooring at HD Expo 2016.

The unexpected design illustrates how over time nature moves underlying surfaces forward, revealing distressed architectural details and nuanced patina finishes. The resulting aesthetic is both subtle and stimulating.

Freelay redefines the design and eco-friendly elements of LVT, overcoming traditional limitations. Five curated patterns emulate building material textures - woven grids and degrees of distressed natural and architectural details - which speak to the modern aesthetics of contemporary interiors.

  • Eero illustrates how years of exposure to natural elements transform material structures, even as they are being built.
  • Nuanced color gives Polished Concrete the sleek sophistication of its namesake with the benefits of resilient flooring.
  • Tight woven textures inspired by electrical grids take center stage with Powergrid.
  • Heritage Wood relays the beauty of distressed aesthetics with the performance of LVT.
  • The relaxed lines of Fargesia Bambo lay the groundwork for a modern and tranquil environment.

Freelay also debuts a backing system for LVT with virtually no adhesive. The environmentally superior format substantially reduces harmful VOC emissions, provides excellent acoustics and hides subfloor imperfections. It also overcomes limitations of other adhesive-based LVT installation methods, including easy repair/replacement and the ability to install over raised access flooring and repurpose tiles. Notably, the collection is certified to FloorScore for indoor air quality and carries an Environmental Product Declaration and Declare label to be transparent about its lifetime environmental impacts and product ingredients.

Juxtaposing distress and performance, Freelay’s unique 28-mil wear layer, which is enhanced with polyurethane coating and reinforced with silica beads, resists scratches and eliminates the time and cost of additional sealants and waxes. Its non-skid backing also has no weak points, as seen with click hinges.

If you’re attending NeoCon 2016, be sure to experience the award-winning beauty of Eero in our showroom, #11-1149. Until then, browse Milliken’s range of LVT flooring online or contact your local Milliken Sales Representative to learn more.
